Audience Development Strategy

I led the marketing campaign for Inua Ellams’ take on the classic Chekhov, set in 1960s Nigeria. The audience development strategy I created invited hundreds of British-Nigerians to experience the show, delivering record-breaking sales and surpassing the record for Global Majority audiences in the Lyttelton Theatre.

“The audience included lots of Nigerians who reacted exuberantly…This infectious enthusiasm was far more fun than the normal stodginess found on the South Bank.” The Times

I also managed an event at the end of the run called the WRAP Party, a rhythm and poetry event inviting female Nigerian poets, spoken word artists and DJs to perform in the Lyttelton foyer.
